The Pickens Library needs your help. Public funding has not kept pace with the demand of library services. Friends raise money to help the library. We also work to increase public awareness of the library’s services and its needs.

Friends of the Library have access to the Members Only Pre-Sale at our Community Used Book Sale.

You can donate!

All proceeds benefit your local library and are tax deductible.

Annual Used Book Sale

The Friends of the Pickens Library has hosted the Annual Used Book Sale for twenty-five years. Many of you have faithfully supported this three day extravaganza which offered thousands of books plus a plethora of media items in one enormous room at Chattahoochee Technical College. You were among the hundreds of shoppers perusing the aisles, sometimes overwhelmed from searching through the magnitude of choices offered. This sale took place the weekend after Labor Day and many of you planned your schedules around it, hoping nothing came up to prevent your attendance. We are grateful to you for sustaining this event through your attendance and donations.

We will not have the Annual Used Book Sale in September 2022.

All of Pickens County is anxiously awaiting the opening of our enlarged and renovated Library this fall. It will be virtually a new Library with so much more to offer the community through additional books, media and services.

The FOPL has graciously been allocated a permanent space in our new Library for display and sale of books. Pair this with shopping at your own convenience almost every day during the Library’s regular business hours.

RECAP: The same books and media items will be scaled down to a manageable quantity offered during a CONTINUOUS sale with new and different additions weekly. We will highlight popular authors, offer special benefits for members of the Friends of Pickens Library, and host supplementary sale events at the Library throughout the year.

The shelves will be stocked and ready for you when the Library opens. We are dedicated to providing the same quality and quantity of books along with ease of access sales.

Your generosity with book donations is outstanding! Please continue to box and hold your books until January 2023 when the Library will begin accepting donations again. The procedure and schedule for donation days will be posted later in the year on the Library’s website and at friendsofpickenslibrary.org. Visit the Friends Facebook page for current information regarding membership and upcoming events.
